Abbey Nature Preserve is now open and accessible from the temporary parking area located on the south side of Scott Hill Loop Road. Look for the signs posted at the new entrance. The builder has cleared the former entrance to the trails to begin building homes. Additionally, they have installed a fence to prevent access from that location.
***************
The Pender County Parks & Recreation Department has created a temporary location to be used by the public for parking and access to Abbey Nature Preserve. The prior parking location next to Poplar Grove Plantation and the front 65 acres of woods, which are not part of Abbey Nature Preserve, have been cleared for the construction of 137 homes. This temporary location will enable the public to have access to Abbey Nature Preserve during the construction.
Completion of the neighborhood and a new park entrance is expected 2025/2026. Once Indigo is developed, the public access to Abbey Nature Preserve will be available from a new entrance accessible from south Scotts Hill Loop Road.
